Your academic advisers at Cowell are great people that can help connect you with academic support resources on campus. The following are just some of the many offices, programs, and people available to support you in succeeding at this university.
ACE (Academic Excellence Program) | The ACE program focuses on supporting students in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) majors. They offer active learning problem solving sessions that supplement several large math and science lectures. |
CUIP (Chancellor's Undergraduate Internship Program) | CUIP provides on-campus internships in programs and departments throughout the campus. Interns work with a mentor to develop personal and professional skills, and take a leading role in producing project in their internship. |
EOP (Educational Opportunity Program) | EOP offers personal and academic support for first generation college, low-income, and educationally disadvantaged student populations. |
Everett Program | The Everett program empowers students at CUSC to take direct action on issues of social justice and environmental sustainability. They craft a project and participate in Impactathons. |
Global Engagement | Global Engagement provides leadership and coordination for UCSC global initiatives. It includes functional units of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) and Study Abroad. It provides guidance and resources for global institutional partnership and custom international projects. |
LSS (Learning Support Services) | Learning Support Services offers academic support such as tutoring and MSI (Modified Supplemental Instruction) to help you do well in your classes. |
MEP (Multicultural Engineering Program | An innovative academic learning community that promotes academic progress and success for a diverse population. |
STARS (Services for Transfer and Re-Entry Students) | STARS offers support and resources specifically designed for students who transferred to UCSC from a different school, as well as undergraduates who are 25 year of age or older who are parents. They can assist students with their pre-admission questions, transition concerns, academic support network, and post graduation planning. |
Undergraduate Research Opportunities | Information and support for undergraduates interested in incorporating research into their degree program. |
Undergraduate Advising Center | A campus wide advising resource including information about declaring your major, degree planning tools, academic standing information, and other great resources for students. |
University Libraries | Library collections in humanities, arts, and social sciences are housed in McHenry Library; books and periodicals in the natural and physical sciences are housed in the Science & Engineering Library. You can also reserve study rooms and receive researching tips. |
